Vacancy for a Behaviour Support Worker/Teaching Assistant

Permanent from 1 September 2019

Grade 4 (Scale point 4 to 5) - £18,426 to £18,795 (Pro Rata)

Hours of Work:  30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8.30am to 3.00pm including a 30 minute lunch break) Term Time Only

We are looking to recruit two support staff who will carry out Behaviour Support work on a 1:1 basis and who also may be required to carry out the duties of a Teaching Assistant.  One position is in our Early Years Foundation Stage Unit and the other is to work within Key Stage 2.

Do you have specific experience in supporting children to behave in a way that keeps them safe and helps them to learn well? Are you kind, patient, approachable, good at building relationships, firm but fair and able to work using your own initiative?

The values of our school are inclusive, and we try to foster creativity in both staff and children within a clearly defined framework of priorities. The successful candidate will be:

  • experienced in supporting children to manage their own behaviour
  • good at spotting triggers and working to deescalate situations
  • trained in Team Teach techniques for care and control of pupils, and confident to use them if necessary (not essential as this training can be provided)
  • confident to liaise with parents and Carers to share successes and challenges
  • able to take on an overview of children with behaviour support needs in school, work to develop effective plans for them and then help to carry them out
  • good at working with a team of teachers and skilled support staff to identify and support children who need extra support
  • able to support learning across the full range of the primary curriculum

This post is subject to a DBS check.
