Vacancy in school for a Lunchtime Supervisor

We are looking for a Lunchtime Supervisor to start as soon as possible to join our team at St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Chipping Norton.


The hours are:

  • Mon - Fri (12.00noon – 1.00pm)
  • Term Time Only


Pay Scale:

  • Grade 1 (£15,014 Pro rata)
  • £7.78 per hour


The role of the lunchtime supervisor is to supervise the children, supporting them in eating appropriately, ensuring drinks are provided and helping with the social skills of sharing lunchtime with peers.


In the hall this will also include clearing up spillages, wiping tables and helping children to clear their own trays.


Outside on the playground and the field, the Lunchtime Supervisor will actively encourage children to play games, ensuring the playground rules are followed and will administer first aid when required (dependent on training).


The successful candidate will be able to oversee behaviour and deal with situations in a way that reflects the behaviour policy of the school.


Lunch will end after the children have been accompanied back to class and a brief handover has been given to the class teacher if it is needed.


Candidates will need to undertake a full Debarring Service check (DBS) to ensure suitability to work with children and two references will be required, one of which must be an employer’s reference. A full history of employment must be given in the application form and candidates should use the space provided to detail relevant skills for the job.

Vacancy for a Behaviour Support Worker

St Mary’s C of E (Aided) Primary School in Chipping Norton are looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Worker, someone to join our team of dedicated and skilled support staff.

Do you have specific experience in supporting children to behave in a way that keeps them safe and helps them to learn well and allow others to learn well? Are you kind, patient, approachable, good at building relationships, firm but fair and able to work using your own initiative?

The values of our school are inclusive and we try to foster creativity in both staff and children within a clearly defined framework of priorities. The successful candidate will be:

  • experienced in supporting children to manage their own behaviour
  • good at spotting triggers and working to deescalate situations
  • trained in Team Teach techniques for care and control of pupils, and confident to use them if necessary (not essential as this training will be provided)
  • confident to liaise with parents and carers to share successes and challenges
  • able to take on an overview of children with behaviour support needs in school, work to develop effective plans for them and then help to carry them out
  • good at working with a team of teachers and skilled support staff to identify and support children who need extra support
  • able to support learning across the full range of the primary curriculum.

Salary details:  Grade 4 (11 - 13) £15, 807 to £16,491
