Our Nursery Environment
Our Nursery is an integral part of St Mary’s, but children enjoy their own dedicated entrance, exciting and engaging classroom and bathroom, and a secure outdoor space shared with Reception.
Children take part in a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activities designed to support development across all seven areas of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Every day, the children have access to a wide range of resources, including water play, creative and malleable materials, construction toys, maths and mark making areas, musical instruments, imaginative small world play, a role play corner, and a fantastic selection of books.

Moving On
Our approach to planning and learning across the Early Years ensures a smooth transition from Nursery to Reception, helping your child feel confident and ready for the next stage of their learning journey.
Nursery children are also invited to join the rest of the school for special assemblies and performances, giving them a gentle introduction to ‘big school’. They enjoy Christmas celebrations, Easter and Sports Day alongside their Reception friends.
